Wax seals have been used to decorate letters and documents in the past, but now , they’ve become a popular craft, adding a vintage touch to various projects. First, let’s get all the materials ready.

Choose a wax seal stamp that will create a frame around your stamp. I recommend one with a frame design, like the oval and square-shaped ones I’m using.

Pick out some Post Stamps or small photos you want to showcase. I’m using a 100 LIRE stamp featuring a dog—perfect for this vintage look.

Choose a few different colors of sealing wax to make your design pop. I’ve selected black, white, yellow, and brown wax.

You’ll need a wax melting spoon, a heat source like a candle, tweezers, a silicone mat, and a small sponge applicator for finishing touches.

Now, let’s get to the fun part—creating wax seal step by step.

Place some black sealing wax beads in a melting spoon and hold it over a candle until the wax is melted. Black wax creates a rich, elegant background that pairs beautifully with vintage stamps.

Once the wax is melted, pour it onto a silicone mat, creating a circular shape.

Use tweezers to place the post stamp on top of the melted wax. For this project, I’m using a 100 LIRE dog stamp—it’s full of character! Press it down lightly so it sticks well to the wax.

Take the wax seal stamp (I’m using a square-shaped one with a frame design) and press it down over the stamp and wax.

Once the wax has cooled and the post stamp is set, it’s time for the finishing touches. Use a sponge applicator to dab some gold metallic paint onto the raised edges of the wax seal frame. This step gives the design a luxurious, elegant look that stands out beautifully against the black wax.
